KURSSIN PERUSTIEDOT

Collegiate shag -tanssi tuli tunnetuksi Yhdysvalloissa 1920-1930-luvuilla. Nopea jalkatekniikka ja energinen meno sekä hulluttelevan rento asenne ovat tanssin luonteenomaisia tunnusmerkkejä. Shag voi tarjota myös lindyhoppareille lisämausteita tanssiin.

Tämä kurssi on tarkoitettu kertaajille eli aiemmin collegiate shagia ainakin muutamien pika-alkeiden tai open level -kurssien verran tanssineille tai muita swing-tanssilajeja tanssineille nopeille oppijoille. Kurssi sopii hyvin myös niille, jotka haluavat tanssia tuttua tanssia uudessa tanssiroolissa. Kurssilla opitaan uusia kuvioita osittain koreografian muodossa, sekä collegiate shagin perustekniikkaa, vientiä ja seuraamista unohtamatta.

Kurssille kannattaa laittaa päälle liikkumiseen sopivat vaatteet ja jalkaan ainakin hieman luistavat kengät. Mukaan kannattaa ottaa myös vesipullo.

Kurssille voi osallistua parin kanssa tai ilman omaa paria. Kurssilla on parinvaihto.

Kurssin valmennuskieli on suomi. Tarvittaessa tärkeimmät kohdat käännetään englanniksi.

Aika: Kurssilla on kymmenen (10 x 90 min) valmennuskertaa sunnuntaisin 25.1.-12.4.2026 klo 16.00-17.30. Huom! Opetusta ei ole su 1.3. eikä pääsiäisenä 5.4.2026. Oppituntien jälkeen on mahdollisuus puolen tunnin pituiseen vapaaharjoitteluun.

Paikka: Tanssiseura Comets, sali 2, kauppakeskus Tripla, P4 kerros Down Under, Fredikanterassi 1, Helsinki. Katso tarvittaessa saapumisohjeet.

Hinta: 99 € / henkilö

Kursseille osallistuaksesi sinun pitää myös maksaa Cometsin jäsenmaksu, jos et jo ole sitä maksanut kuluvana vuonna. Jäsenmaksu on 25 €. Jäsenmaksu laskutetaan erikseen.

Ilmoittautuminen: Kurssille voi osallistua parin kanssa tai ilman paria. 

Päästämme kurssille yksin ilmoittautuneita jonosta ilmoittautumisjärjestyksessä siten, että viejiä ja seuraajia on suunnilleen tasamäärä. Mikäli epätasapaino viejien ja seuraajien määrässä on suuri, saatat jäädä jonoon. Ilmoittautumisen peruminen jonopaikalta on maksutonta.

Saat vahvistuksen kurssipaikasta noin parin päivän kuluessa tai paritasapainon varmistuessa.

Kurssipaikka on henkilökohtainen, eikä sitä voi luovuttaa toiselle henkilölle. Kurssin järjestäjän toimesta vahvistettu kurssipaikka on sitova, eikä sitä voi enää peruuttaa.

Olen tutustunut seuran sopimusehtoihin ja ilmoittautumalla kurssille hyväksyn ne.

Lasku: Maksathan kurssin laskun vasta eräpäivänä. Mikäli kurssi joudutaan perumaan vähäisen osanottajamäärän takia, voit jättää laskun maksamatta.

🇬🇧 COURSE DESCRIPTION

Collegiate Shag is one of various historical shag dance forms which became popular in America during the 1920-1930s. Fast footwork and energetic style as well as a hilarious easy-going attitude are probably the most remarkable characteristics of the dance. Shag can also provide Lindy Hoppers with some new ingredients for their dancing.

The course is meant for those who have danced Collegiate Shag at least at several beginners bootcamps and know the basics steps, and also for fast learners who have swing dance background. The course is also suitable for those who want to dance Shag in a new dance role. At this course you will learn new figures mostly in a form of choreography, without forgetting basic technique, good leading and following.

Choose shoes with non-sticky soles, if you can. Please bring also your own water bottle with you and clothes that are suitable for light exercise.

We rotate partners during the lesson.

The course will be held in Finnish but summarized in English, if needed.

Instructors: Helena Metsä and Sanna Autere

Time: The course has ten lessons (10x 90 min) on Sundays from 25th January to 12th April 2026 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Please note! No lesson Sun 1st March nor Easter 5th April 2026. There is an opportunity for half an hour of free practice after each lesson.

Location: Comets Club, studio 2, Mall of Tripla, P4 floor Down Under, Fredikanterassi 1, Helsinki. Please see arrival instructions.

Price: 99 € / person

You also need to pay Comets membership fee 25 € if you haven’t paid it yet for the current calendar year. It will be sent to you as a separate invoice.

Registration: You can register for the course with or without a partner. 

We let people who signed up without a partner in from the queue in the registration order so that there are about equal numbers of followers and leaders. If the number of followers and leaders is imbalanced, you might not get out of the queue. The registration cancellation from the queue is free.

We let those who have registered with a partner to the course after both of them have registered themselves to the queue.

You will receive confirmation of the spot in the course within two days or as soon as the partner balance is equal. 

A course spot confirmed by the course organizer is binding and cannot be canceled. The spot on the course is personal and it cannot be given to another person. 

I have read the Terms and Conditions and by registering to the course I agree to these terms.

Invoice: Please pay the course invoice on the due date. If the course is cancelled because of too small number of participants, don’t pay the course invoice.
