KURSSIN PERUSTIEDOT

Luvassa on 50-luvun tunnelmaa ja rock’n’roll -musiikin asennetta. Rockabillya tanssitaan mukaansa tempaavaan rytmimusiikkiin (rhythm & blues, rock`n`roll, rockabilly), jonka juuret ulottuvat 50-luvulle. Rockabilly on energinen ja iloinen tanssilaji, jossa musiikintulkinta on suuressa roolissa. Loistava musiikki ja rento ilmapiiri luovat oivalliset puitteet tanssiharrastuksellesi.

Kurssille voit tulla ilman aiempaa tanssikokemusta, mutta myös kertaamaan perustaitoja. Kurssilla opetellaan rockabillyn perusasiat; perusaskel, tanssiasento ja liikkuminen, tanssiminen rytmiin ja perusteet viennille ja seuraamiselle. Lisäksi opetellaan muutamia kuvioita, joilla bileissäkin pääsee vauhtiin!

Pukeudu kurssille mukavasti, ota juomapullo mukaan, jalkaan matalapohjaiset tanssikengät tai muut liukaspohjaiset jalkineet. Mukaan kannattaa ottaa myös vesipullo.

Kurssin valmennuskieli on suomi. Tarvittaessa tärkeimmät kohdat käännetään englanniksi.

Kurssille voi osallistua niin parin kanssa kuin ilmankin omaa paria. Kurssilla on parinvaihto, eli paria vaihdetaan tunnin aikana opettajien ohjeen mukaan.

Valmentajat: Timo Huhtinen ja Helena Metsä (Rockabillyn Suomen mestarit 2023 ja 2024)

Aika: Kurssilla on kaksi (2 x 90 min) valmennuskertaa maanantaisin klo 19.30-21.00 ajalla 25.5. - 1.6.2026.

Paikka: Tanssiseura Comets, sali 2, kauppakeskus Tripla, P4 kerros Down Under, Fredikanterassi 1, Helsinki. Katso tarvittaessa saapumisohjeet.

Hinta: 25 € / henkilö

Kursseille osallistuaksesi sinun pitää myös maksaa Cometsin jäsenmaksu, jos et jo ole sitä maksanut kuluvana vuonna. Jäsenmaksu on 25 €. Jäsenmaksu laskutetaan erikseen.

Ilmoittautuminen: Kurssille voi osallistua niin parin kanssa, kuin ilmankin paria. 

Päästämme kurssille yksin ilmoittautuneita jonosta ilmoittautumisjärjestyksessä siten, että viejiä ja seuraajia on suunnilleen tasamäärä. Mikäli epätasapaino viejien ja seuraajien suhteessa on suuri, saatat jäädä jonoon. Ilmoittautumisen peruminen jonopaikasta on maksutonta.

Saat vahvistuksen kurssipaikasta noin parin päivän kuluessa tai paritasapainon varmistuessa. 

Kurssipaikka on henkilökohtainen, eikä sitä voi luovuttaa toiselle henkilölle. Vahvistettu kurssipaikka on sitova.

🇬🇧 COURSE DESCRIPTION

Rockabilly is danced to captivating rhythmic music (rhythm & blues, rock`n`roll, rockabilly), whose roots go back to the 50s. It has attitude of rock'n'roll music. Rockabilly is an energetic and fun dance form where music interpretation plays a big role. It is improvised couple dances, i.e. they are based on leading and following. Great music and a relaxed atmosphere create the perfect setting for your dance hobby.

The course starts from the very basics. No prior skills are required. You can also join the course to refresh the basics of Rockabilly. At the course you will learn the basics of rockabilly; basic steps, dance positions, dancing to the rhythm, and the basics of leading and following. You will also learn some patterns so that you will have fun at rockabilly parties.

Dress comfortably for the class, bring a water bottle, wear low-soled dance shoes or other shoes with slippery soles.

The course will be held in Finnish but summarized in English, if needed.

We rotate partners during the lessons.

Instructors: Timo Huhtinen and Helena Metsä (Rockabilly Finnish Champions 2023 and 2024)

Time: The course has two lessons (2 x 90 min) on Mondays from 7:30 to 9:00pm between 25th May to 1st June 2026.

Location: Dance Club Comets, studio 2, Mall of Tripla, P4 floor Down Under, Fredikanterassi 1, Helsinki. Please see arrival instructions.

Price: 25 € / person

You also need to pay Comets membership fee 25 € if you haven’t paid it yet for the current calendar year. It will be sent to you as a separate invoice.

Registration: You can register for the course with or without a partner. 

We let people without a partner from the queue in the registration order so that there are about equal number of followers and leaders. If the number of followers and leaders is imbalanced, you might not get out of the queue. The registration cancellation from the queue is free.

We let those who have registered with a partner to the course after both of them have registered themselves to the queue.

You will receive confirmation of the spot in the course within two days or as soon as the partner balance is equal. 

Confirmed spot on the course is binding. The spot on the course is personal and it cannot be given to another person.
