Cometsin arvot ovat yhteisöllisyys, iloisuus ja hauskuus, yhdenvertaisuus ja kehittyminen. Tavoitteena kaikessa toiminnassamme on Cometsin arvojen toteutuminen. 

Cometsin toiminta perustuu vapaaehtoisten innostukseen ja työhön. Muistamme, että vapaaehtoistoiminnassa hyvä tunnelma on tärkeä. Tavoitteena on, että mahdollisimman moni seuran jäsen osallistuu seuran toimintaan muutenkin kuin kurssilla käyden.

2. Kevätkokous 2024

Tervetuloa yhdistyksen jäsenkokoukseen päättämään yhteisistä asioistamme. Kokouksen esityslistalla on vuoden 2023 toimintakertomus, tilinpäätös ja vastuuvapauden myöntäminen hallitukselle, sekä esitys perustaa seuran omistama voittoa tavoittelematon osakeyhtiö, joka hallinnoi seuralle vuokrattavia salivuoroja Pasilan Triplasta.

Aika: perjantaina 5.4. klo 17.00

Paikka: Comets Club pieni sali, Pukinmäenaukio 2, Helsinki

Ilmoittaudu kokoukseen 5.4. klo 15 mennessä myClubissa, jotta ehdimme tarkistamaan äänioikeudet. Äänioikeus on tänä ja viime vuonna jäsenmaksun maksaneilla ja vähintään kaksi edellistä kautta kursseilla olleilla.

Tarjolla on kahvia, teetä ja naposteltavaa. Kokouksen jälkeen Comets Clubin saleissa on Fusku- ja Bugg-bileet klo 18:45-20:45, tervetuloa!

3. Kysymyksiä ja vastauksia Triplan salista

  • Kokonaispinta-ala 289 m2
  • Kaksi tanssisalia peileillä 128 m2 + 90 m2, yhteensä 218 m2 (vrt. Puksussa 135 m2 ja 59 m2)
  • Sisältää lisäksi eteisen, keittiön, kaksi pukuhuonetta, suihkun ja kaksi wc-tilaa
  • Korkea huonekorkeus
  • Tehokas ilmanvaihto
  • Sisäänkäynti 24/7
  • Erinomaiset markkinointimahdollisuudet osana Triplan markkinointia
  • Triplan kävijämäärä vuodessa yli 27 miljoonaa

Sali ei vaadi suurta remonttia, mutta tilaan tarvitaan tanssimiseen sopiva lattia (esim. parketti) ja tanssisalien välinen seinä pitää äänieristää tai tanssisalien välille voi rakentaa avattavan siirtoseinän, jolloin kahdesta salista saisi tarvittaessa yhden ison salin bileitä varten.

Vuokrasopimus alkaisi 1.7., jolloin tilaan päästään tekemään remonttia ja remontin olisi tarkoitus valmistua kesän aikana, jotta syksyn kurssit saadaan aloitettua uudella salilla.

Q&A:

Kuinka paljon seurat juoksevat kulut nousisivat?

  • Salikulut eivät nousisi merkittävästi. Saimme neuvoteltua vuokranantajan kanssa niin hyvän vuokrasopimuksen, että arviomme mukaan vuositasolla seuran salikustannukset nousisivat noin 5 prosenttia. Koko seuran vuosibudjetissa kulujen nousu olisi n. 2,5 prosenttia. Lisäksi pystyisimme luopumaan viikonloppuisin käytössä olevista koulusalivuoroista, joista tulee säästöä seuralle. Uskomme, että erityisesti salin käyttöaste tulee kasvamaan viikonloppuisin paremman sijainnin myötä, mikä tuo seuralle lisätuloja ilman lisäkustannuksia. 

Muuttuuko kurssien hinnat?

  • Seuran nykyinen taloustilanne näyttää tällä hetkellä hyvältä, joten kurssien hintoihin ei ole suunnitteilla korotuksia muuton vuoksi.

Kuinka remonttikulut katetaan?

  • Seuran tilille on säästetty ylimääräistä pääomaa, jota on tarkoitus hyödyntää salin remonttikuluihin tekemällä tuleville vuosille alijäämäiset budjetit. Pasilan tila on ollut aikaisemmin balettikoulun käytössä, joten suuria remonttikustannuksia ei ole tulossa. Merkittävimmät remonttikustannukset tulevat tanssilattiasta (esim. parketin) ja mahdollisen tanssisalien välisen siirtoseinän hankinnasta.

Miksi yhdistyksen kannattaisi perustaa osakeyhtiö?

Onko salivuoroja tarkoitus myydä ulkopuolisille?

  • Ei ole. Satunnaisten vuorojen myyminen on tarvittaessa mahdollista, mikäli seura tarvitsee lisätuloja.

Miten käy vapaaharjoitteluvuoroille?

  • Pasilassa olisi samaan tapaan käytössä iso sali (128 m2) ensisijaisesti kurssitoimintaa varten ja lisäksi pienempi sali (90 m2) vapaaharjoitteluun.

Onko yhdistyksen hallituksella valtuudet päättää muutosta?

  • Yhdistyslakiin erikoistuneen asianajajan mukaan hallitus voi tehdä päätöksen muutosta uuteen tilaan, koska yhdistyksen kulut eivät nouse merkittävästi eikä lisätalousarviolle ole tarvetta. Mikäli yhdistys ostaisi esimerkiksi kiinteistön, niin sellainen päätös olisi yhdistyslain 23 § mukaan jäsenkokouksen päätettävä asia.

Miten pysäköintimahdollisuudet muuttuvat?

  • Pasilassa on ilmainen kadunvarsipysäköinti arkisin klo 21-09 ja viikonloppuisin koko päivän. Triplassa on 1 h ilmaista pysäköintiaikaa. Velodromin pihalla on ilmainen pysäköinti klo 17-09.
  • Useimpien koulusalien pihoille pysäköinti on edelleenkin ilmaista.
  • Helsingin kaupungin suunnitelmissa Pukinmäen pysäköintipaikkojen määrää tullaan rajoittamaan tulevaisuudessa. Nykyisen liityntäpysäköinnin paikalle on suunniteltu pysäköintihalli, eli ilmaiset pysäköintipaikat tulevat poistumaan joka tapauksessa tulevaisuudessa.

4. Cometsin sisäiset kisat 25.2. Comets Clubilla

Cometsin perinteiset sisäiset kisat pidettiin Pukinmäessä sunnuntaina 25.2. Yhteensä 27 cometslaista kisasi seuraavissa lajeissa: balboa, boogie woogie, bugg, fusku, jazz roots, lindy hop, rockabilly ja west coast swing. Onnea kaikille voittajille!

Projektipäällikköinä olivat Pirja Vitikka-Koponen ja Susanna Ritala, sekä talkoolaisina olivat Paula Laitinen, Suvi Mäenpää, Greatman Lim, Liisa Aro, Mikael Mölsä ja Gianfranco Villanueva. Tuomareina toimi Ida-Loviisa ja Aaron Koivunen, Samuel Vaulimo, Timo Huhtinen, Greatman Lim ja Helena Metsä.

Tapahtumassa julkistettiin myös vuoden Cometslainen valmentaja, kisaaja ja aktiivi.

5. Vuoden 2023 Cometslaiset

Ehdotuksia vuoden Cometslaisiksi tuli useita kymmeniä. On upeaa, että tunnistamme keskuudessamme olevan useita ahkeria ja menestyneitä jäseniä, joista kaikki ansaitsisivat tulla palkituiksi. Nykyään vuoden Cometslaisia palkitaan kolmessa eri kategoriassa, joilla halutaan muistaa sitä, että seuratyötä tehdään monessa eri aktiivin roolissa.

Vuoden Cometslainen kilpailija

Hallitsevat junioreiden Boogie Woogien maailmanmestarit Ida-Loviisa Koivunen ja Aaron Koivunen voittivat kaiken mahdollisen vuonna 2023.

Vuoden Cometslainen valmentaja

Vuoden Cometslainen valmentaja Hanna Vammeljoki luo erään ehdottajan mukaan aina treeneihin positiivisen ilmapiirin, jossa jokaisella osallistujalla on tilaa kehittyä. Hän tarjoaa myös sopivasti haastetta ja ottaa hienosti huomioon isossa ryhmässä pakostakin syntyvät erot.

Vuoden Cometslainen seura-aktiivi

Mikael Mölsä on isossa roolissa niin kesäajan kuin treenikauden tanssitapahtumissa. Hänen aktiivinen järjestämisensä on rakentavaa ja mahdollistavaa muille ihmisille. Sen takia Comets on saanut myös uusia tanssijoita innostumaan westistä.

6. Anna kurssipalautetta ja voita ilmainen kausikurssi

Muista antaa palautetta niistä kursseista, joille osallistuit kevään 2024 aikana. Antamalla palautetta voit osallistua ilmaisen kausikurssin arvontaan (arvo 109-179€). Palautelomake on auki 1.6. asti. Palaute on arvokasta toiminnan kehittämisessä.

7. Etsitään GP-kilpailuihin lokakuussa markkinointi- ja viestintähenkilöitä

Etsitään lokakuun GP-kisoihin henkilöitä, jotka voisi tehdä pieniä markkinointi- javiestintä tehtäviä GP-kilpailuihin liittyen. Esimerkkejä tehtävistä: valokuvaus kisapäivänä, markkinointimateriaalia ennen kisoja, kuvien muokkaamista ja joitain muita pieniä tehtäviä.

11. Valmentajakoulutukset

Cometsin seuravalmentaja voi hakea seuralta koulutustukea STUL:n ja ESLU:n koulutuksiin tämän lomakkeen avulla. 

Koulutustuki on suositeltavaa hakea viimeistään 3-4 viikkoa ennen koulutusta, jotta valmennusvaliokunta ehtii myöntämään ajoissa luvan kouluttautua seuran tukemana. Yleensä koulutuksiin pitää ilmoittautua viimeistään kaksi viikkoa ennen koulutusta.

VL ja RS Taso I: VOK 1 -koulutusviikonloppu Varalassa 2024

Suomen Tanssiurheiluliitto järjestää kaikille tanssilajeille yhteisen VOK 1 -koulutusviikonlopun vuoden 2024 aikana. Koulutuspaikkana on Varalan urheiluopisto Tampereella.

Kahden päivän koulutuspaketti sisältää seuraavat VOK 1 -koulutukset, jotka yhdessä riittävät RS tason I suorittamiseksi:  

  • 102 Opetustyylit ja ohjaaminen (Bailatino, RS ja VL taso I)
  • 103 Taitojen oppiminen (RS ja VL taso I)
  • 104 Lasten ja nuorten fyysinen harjoittelu / 105 Fyysiset ominaisuudet ja harjoittelu aikuisliikunnassa (RS ja VL taso I)

2. Spring meeting on Friday, 5th of April 2024, at 17:00

Welcome to the Comets member meeting to decide on our common things. The agenda for the meeting includes the 2023 activity report, financial statements, and the granting of discharge to the board.

Time: Friday, 5th of April, at 17:00

Place: Comets Club small ballroom, Pukinmäenaukio 2, Helsinki

Register for the meeting on the 5th of April by 15:00 in MyClub to have time to check the voting rights. Members who have paid membership fees this and last year and have taken at least 2 season courses within the last 2 years have voting rights. 

Coffee, tea, and snacks are available. After the meeting, there will be a bugg and fusku party in the Comets Club from 18:45 to 20:45. Welcome!

3. Questions and answers about dance club

  • Total area 289 m2
  • Two dance halls with mirrors 128 m2 + 90 m2, total 218 m2 (135 m2 and 59 m2 in Puksu)
  • Includes entrance hall, kitchen, two dressing rooms, shower, and two toilets
  • High room height
  • Efficient and adjustable ventilation
  • Entrance 24/7
  • Excellent marketing opportunities with Tripla’s marketing
  • The annual number of visitors to Tripla exceeds 27 million

The dance hall doesn’t require a major renovation, but the space needs a floor suitable for dancing (e.g., parquet), and the wall between the ballrooms needs soundproofing or build a soundproof wall which can be opened, so we could use both ballrooms as one bigger dance hall for parties.

We will be able to start the renovation on the 1st of July and the renovations should be done during the summer so that some of the autumn courses can be started in the new hall.

Q&A:

How much would the clubs' running costs increase?

Expenses would not increase significantly. We were able to negotiate such a good lease agreement with the landlord that, according to our estimate, the club's hall costs would increase by about 5 % annually. In the entire club's annual budget, the increase in expenses would be approx. 2.5 %. In addition, we would be able to give up the school hall shifts that are used on weekends, which will save money for the club. We believe that the utilization rate of the hall, especially on weekends, will increase due to the better location, which will bring additional income to the club without additional costs.

Will the course prices change?

The club's current financial situation looks good at the moment, so there are no plans to increase the prices of the courses due to the move.

How are the renovation costs covered?

Extra capital has been saved in the club's account, which is intended to be used for the renovation costs of the dance hall by making deficit budgets for the coming years. Pasila's space has been previously used by a ballet school, so there are no big renovation costs coming. The most significant renovation costs come from the dance floor (e.g., parquet) and the acquisition of a possible soundproof wall that can be opened between the Ballrooms.

Why should the association be established as a joint-stock company?

Renting the hall through a joint-stock company would be significantly more affordable for the club (a saving of over 10,000 € per year). For example, many gymnastics clubs make use of incorporation in such a way that a joint-stock company 100 % owned by the gymnastics club rents gym shifts to the gymnastics club.

Are dance hall practice times intended to be sold outside of the club?

No. Selling occasional shifts is possible, if necessary, if the club needs additional income.

How are the free training sessions?

In Pasila, a large ballroom (128 m2) would be used in the same way, primarily for course activities, and a smaller ballroom (90 m2) for free training.

Does the board of the association have the authority to decide on the change?

According to a lawyer specializing in association law, the board can decide to change to a new state because the association's expenses will not increase significantly, and there is no need for an additional budget. If the association were to buy, for example, real estate, such a decision would be a matter for the members' meeting to decide according to Section 23 of the Association Act.

How will the parking options change?

Pasila has free street parking on weekdays from 21:00 to 09:00 and on weekends all day. Tripla has 1 hour of free parking time. There is free parking in the Velodrome yard from 17:00 to 09:00.

Parking in the yards of most school properties is still free.

In the plans of the city of Helsinki, the number of parking spaces in Pukinmäki will be limited in the future. A parking garage is planned for the place of the current connection parking, which means that the free parking spaces will disappear in the future anyway.

4. Comets internal competitions on 25th February at Comets Club

Comets' traditional internal competitions in all our dance styles were held on Sunday, 25th February at Comets Club in Pukinmäki!

We had 27 competitors and competed in these dance styles: balboa, boogie woogie, bugg, fusku, jazz roots, lindy hop, rockabilly, and west coast swing. Congratulations to the winners!

Project managers were Pirja Vitikka-Koponen and Susanna Ritala, and other staff were Paula Laitinen, Suvi Mäenpää, Greatman Lim, Liisa Aro, Mikael Mölsä and Gianfranco Villaneuva. Judges were Ida-Loviisa and Aaron Koivunen, Samuel Vaulimo, Timo Huhtinen and Helena Metsä. 

Also, Comets member of the year 2023 was announced for the following categories: the club instructor of the year, club active of the year, and competitor of the year.

5. Comets member of the year 2023

There were dozens of proposals for the Comets of the year. It is wonderful that we recognize many hardworking and successful members among us, all of whom deserve to be rewarded. Today, the Comets of the Year are awarded in three different categories to remember that club work is done in many active roles. More of this can be found in the article. The article is in Finnish.

Comets Competitor of the Year

Junior Boogie Woogie world championship winners Ida-Loviisa and Aaron Koivunen won everything they could in 2023.

Comets Instructor of the Year

Comets instructor of the Year is Hanna Vammeljoki, who brings positivity to every practice, and everyone has room to develop. She offers challenges to everyone in the practices and considers the dancers' different levels.

Comets Club Active of the Year

Mikael Mölsä has a huge role in organizing parties in the middle of the season and summertime. His active role in organizing is making opportunities for other people, and because of that, Comets has more new dancers who can enjoy West Coast Swing.

7. Looking for marketing persons for the GP competition in October 


We are looking for marketing persons for the GP competition held in Vantaa in October. You would be doing small marketing tasks. For example, we need help taking pictures, making marketing material before the competition, and other small tasks.

Using this form, the Comets Club instructor can apply for a training reimbursement for STUL, ESLU, and STOL training. 

It is recommended that the training reimbursement will be applied no later than 3-4 weeks before the training so that the coaching committee has time to grant permission for training supported by the club. In general, you must register for STUL's training no later than two weeks before the training. 

Most training events are in Finnish, so keep that in mind. 

Suomen Tanssiurheiluliitto / Finnish Dance Sport Federation (STUL)

VL and RS Level I: VOK 1 training weekend in Varala 2024

The Finnish Dance Sports Federation organizes a common VOK 1 training weekend for all dance styles during the year 2024. The place of education is Varala Sports College in Tampere.

The 2-day training package includes the following VOK 1 training, which together are sufficient to complete RS level I:
