KURSSIN PERUSTIEDOT

Lindy hop on rento ja vauhdikas afroamerikkalainen swing-paritanssi 30-luvulta. Lindy hopille ominaista on leikittelevyys, improvisointi ja monipuolisuus. Lindy hopia tanssitaan vanhaan swing jazz -musiikkiin. Tämä kurssi on suunnattu erityisesti niille, joilla ei ole aiempaa tanssikokemusta. Kurssilla käydään läpi Lindy hopin perusaskeleita sekä klassisia kuvioita unohtamatta hauskanpitoa!

Kurssille kannattaa laittaa päälle liikkumiseen sopivat vaatteet ja jalkaan ainakin hieman luistavat kengät. Mukaan kannattaa ottaa myös vesipullo.

Kurssille voi osallistua niin parin kanssa kuin ilmankin omaa paria. Kurssilla on parinvaihto, eli paria vaihdetaan tunnin aikana opettajien ohjeen mukaan.

Kurssin valmennuskieli on suomi, jota voidaan tarvittaessa täydentää lyhyesti englannilla.

Valmentajat: Niko Huttunen ja Saara Honkanen

Aika: Kurssilla on kuusi (6 x 90 min) valmennuskertaa torstaisin klo 19.15-20.45 ajalla 8.1.-12.2.2026. Jokaista oppituntia ennen ja jälkeen on mahdollisuus 15 min vapaaharjoitteluun. Hiihtoloman jälkeen on suunnitteilla kuuden kerran täydentävä kurssi samassa paikassa samaan aikaan. Täydentävällä kurssilla syvennytään uusiin kuvioihin. Täydentävä alkeiskurssi varmistuu 16.1., jolloin siihen voi ilmoittautua.

Paikka: Pasilan peruskoulu, Savonkatu 2, Helsinki. Sisäänkäynti koulun sisäpihalta. Naisten pukuhuone on vasemmalla puolella ja miesten pukuhuone on oikealla puolella. Koulun sisäpihalle voi pysäköidä ilmaiseksi.

Hinta: 65 € / henkilö

Kursseille osallistuaksesi sinun pitää myös maksaa Cometsin jäsenmaksu, jos et jo ole sitä maksanut kuluvana vuonna. Jäsenmaksu on 25 €. Jäsenmaksu laskutetaan erikseen.

Ilmoittautuminen: Kurssille voi osallistua niin parin kanssa, kuin ilmankin paria. 

Päästämme kurssille yksin ilmoittautuneita jonosta ilmoittautumisjärjestyksessä siten, että viejiä ja seuraajia on suunnilleen tasamäärä. Mikäli epätasapaino viejien ja seuraajien suhteessa on suuri, saatat jäädä jonoon. Ilmoittautumisen peruminen jonopaikasta on maksutonta.

Saat vahvistuksen kurssipaikasta noin parin päivän kuluessa tai paritasapainon varmistuessa. 

Kurssipaikka on henkilökohtainen, eikä sitä voi luovuttaa toiselle henkilölle. Kurssin järjestäjän toimesta vahvistettu kurssipaikka on sitova, eikä sitä voi enää peruuttaa.

🇬🇧 COURSE DESCRIPTION

Lindy hop is a relaxed and fun African American swing couple dance from the 1930s. Lindy hop is a playful dance that has a lot of improvisation and variations. It is danced to old swing jazz music. This course is designed especially for those with no previous dance experience. At the course you will cover the basic steps of Lindy hop as well as classic patterns, while having fun along the way!

Choose shoes with non-sticky soles, if you can. Please bring also your own water bottle with you and clothes that are suitable for light exercise.

You can sign up either with a partner or on your own. We rotate partners throughout the course.

The teaching language is Finnish, with brief English support if needed.

Instructors: Niko Huttunen and Saara Honkanen

Time: The course has six lessons (6 x 90 min) on Thursdays from 7:15pm to 8:45pm between 8th January and 12th February 2026. There is an opportunity for a 15 min of free practice before and after each lesson. After the winter break, a six-session follow-up beginner course is planned at the same location and time. In the follow-up course, we’ll dive into new moves. The follow-up beginner course will be confirmed on January 16th, after which registration will open.

Location: Pasilan peruskoulu, Savonkatu 2, Helsinki. Entrance from the school courtyard. The women's locker room is on the left side of the school and the men's locker room is on the right side. You can park for free in the school courtyard.

Price: 65 € / person

You also need to pay Comets membership fee 25 € if you haven’t paid it yet for the current calendar year. It will be sent to you as a separate invoice.

Registration: You can register for the course with or without a partner. 

We let people without a partner from the queue in the registration order so that there are about equal number of followers and leaders. If the number of followers and leaders is imbalanced, you might not get out of the queue. The registration cancellation from the queue is free.

We let those who have registered with a partner to the course after both of them have registered themselves to the queue.

You will receive confirmation of the spot in the course within two days or as soon as the partner balance is equal. 

A course spot confirmed by the course organizer is binding and cannot be canceled. The spot on the course is personal and it cannot be given to another person.
